Technical Animation Lead

Bardel is currently recruiting for a Technical Animation Lead. This role is responsible for fur and cloth simulation and finalizing character and prop deformations by using different software and technology. This lead will also be creating scripts and custom tools to speed up the work of the team. The lead is also responsible for managing a pool of artists and setting up a workflow together with the CG supervisor to ensure a smooth production for the department. 

What you will be doing:

  • Troubleshoot animation, rigging and simulation issues and provide solution for finalizing the animated look of a character or prop into a scene
  • Time based sculpting and deformation fixes to correct major rigging mistake and improve the overall quality of a deformation.
  • Ensure that the output caches for lighting of their finalized shot is working properly throughout the pipeline.
  • Script tools to streamline the workflow of the department.
  • Help with the dynamic rigs builds to improve the quality of simulation.
  • Take care of the fur and cloth simulation on an animated TV show.
  • Work with the production team to ensure timely deliveries.
  • Help the artists on the team to ensure their output is both technically and artistically correct.

What you bring to the table:

  • Minimum 3 years of production experience in Technical animation required
  • Strong Knowledge of Maya and Python
  • Strong Knowledge of Dynamic Solvers in Maya 
  • Strong Knowledge of the nCloth solver in Maya
  • Strong Knowledge of hair solvers in Maya (nHair and Xgen)
  • Strong knowledge of Maya sculpting tools and deformers
  • Good understanding of anatomy in motion
  • Good Knowledge of rigging tools in Maya
