Position Overview

The Intermediate Accountant is responsible for leading in multiple financial activities.  Reporting to the Assistant Controller, this role will be responsible for, but not limited to, the compilation and preparation of financial results, consolidated and non-consolidated financial statements, and managing accounts receivable and payables (including the preparation of corporate payroll).  This role is ideal for someone who is currently enrolled in the CPA program looking to complete their designation.


The successful candidate will bring strong communication, and technical skills to the role, and serving as an effective member of the Finance team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure that all the bank accounts and multiple entities and currencies are reconciled and updated on daily basis
  • Review bank statements on daily basis and ensure that all the transactions are properly recorded, organized, and filed
  • Communicate with bank for any payment processing / stop related issues
  • Manage payables on an ongoing basis to ensure invoices are processed on a timely basis and vendors are paid as per agreed terms
  • Manage Payables/Vendor records across fiscal periods
  • Submits and posts client invoices as per payment schedules
  • Prepare and submit the cheque runs / wire transfers with back-up documentation for review with direct reports
  • Reconcile and post Visa/Mastercard statements
  • Reconcile loans on a monthly basis
  • Update budgets on a monthly basis
  • Coordinate with Payroll Manager regarding EHB & MSP balances
  • Prepare and submit VAT filings for multiple entities on a quarterly basis
  • Set up of new corporations as required (GST/WCB, bank accounts etc.)
  • Assist with year end and audit planning, as required


  • 2+ years of experience in an accounting role
  • Experience in the film or construction accounting is preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively in both written form and verbally with team members and various stakeholders
  • Detail oriented and process driven, with high expectation of self and sense of urgency
  • Adept at managing multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment while ensuring accuracy, confidentiality, and effective time management.
  • Excellent skills in Microsoft Excel and Word
  • SAP Business One experience considered a plus
  • Degree in accounting required. CPA designation, or registered in program considered an asset
  • An enthusiasm for animation considered a plus
