Pipeline Software Engineer

Bardel is currently recruiting for a talented Pipeline Software Engineer to work collaboratively with our Emmy award winning studio team. This person would be reporting to the Pipeline Supervisor. The Pipeline Software Engineer will work on development and implementation of Bardel Entertainment's new Core Pipeline software, services and production tools. The new Core software aims to provide productions a stable platform and API interface for managing web-scale digital assets as part of a high-performance international multisite infrastructure strategy, utilizing both on-premise hardware and cloud resources. Working closely with all Technology teams, the role delivers the software solutions needed by going through phases of research and development as directed by the project's development schedule.


What You Will Be Doing:

  • Follow coding standards, procedures and deployment processes
  • Document developer code and production facing instructions
  • Write unit tests, aiming for bug-free software deployments
  • Participate in code review sessions and design meetings
  • Software development for high volume, low latency, scalable cluster architecture
  • Research, test, evaluate, and develop new solutions to achieve project objectives

What you bring with you:

  • Degree in Computer Science or relevant education and/or job experience
  • 2 or more years job experience programming in a team environment
  • Strong communication skills, ability to interface with multiple teams
  • Experience working with at least one strongly typed programming language
  • Experience with object-oriented programming and software design patterns
  • Ability to understand and implement other programming languages as required
  • Comfortable building microservices and/or modular development
  • Experience developing packages used by other developers

Extra points if you have:

  • Agile software development practices
  • Web-scale software and API design philosophy
  • Experience with Golang, GraphQL, SQL, React, or Python
  • Understanding of CG production processes and software packages
  • Tool development for Maya, Nuke, Houdini, Shotgun, etc.
  • Knowledge of enterprise infrastructure and/or DevOps
  • Cloud software, infrastructure or related experience
